Who We Are

Since 1989, we have worked to provide you with the best bred Epagneul Bretons in the US. We have been awarded the National Elevage Title back-2-back years in 2020 and 2021. This award recognizes our breeding program as the most consistently excellent program in the country.

Our Story

Trinity Bretons was started by Jeff in 1989, when he fell in love with the Epagneul Breton after guiding a hunt for Joel Vance, author of “Bobs, Brush, and Brittanies: A Long Love Affair with Quail Hunting”, and former editor of “Field & Stream. By the end of the first day in the field, Jeff had three Epagneul Bretons on reserve from David Fallensby of du Calembour kennels.

Since that glorious day, we have bred, trained, raised, and hunted these fantastic little dogs. Commonly referred to as “lightswitch" dogs due to their propensity to be “demons in the field and angels in the home”. In 2017 we re-engaged in the trial circuit, competing a number of our young dogs in the UKC walking venues, having many dogs achieve GUN titles or higher. Moose, our foundational male, has expanded our trialing horizons and is now competing in AKC Open Gun Dog stakes. Due to his ability as one competing breeder and trainer said, “he (Moose) just changed the game for all of us, and now we have to step up!” We have also guided privately (in IA), for Pheasant Valley Farms (in PA), and at Orvis Hill Country (Gettysburg, PA).

Perhaps most humbling and honoring of all we have been recognized for two years running (2020-2021) as the TOP breeder in the country, winning the National Elevage Title.

In 2019 we forged a long-term friendship and partnership with George Hickox using his method to develop our dogs from 6 weeks to fully finished trial/hunting dogs. He has helped us change the game even further and we are happy to be able to offer his expertise, experience, and method to you through our Trinity Upland Academy. We host bi-annual clinics at Trinity Bretons that are led by George Hickox himself!
